The Briard is a very old breed of French working dog.
We are a family owned by Briards. Our intent for this web site is to show off our dogs, while trying to educate people about them.

We are a family who enjoys their dogs. We enjoy the show ring as well as agility, obedience and herding. Though there never seems to be enough time or money, we wouldn't trade these guys for anything.
We have been honored to raise a litter of puppies. Simcha had a liter in 2005, with 10 bouncing babies. You can see a few photos of some of them on our friend's pages.
Briards are an old breed of dog, documented in ancient tapestries dates in the 12th century. There are numerous writings about them for centuries.
It is thought that Marquis de Lafayette was instrumental in bringing the Briard to America, but writings of Thomas Jefferson indicate that he also brought representatives of the breed to this continent at about the same time. A distinctive characteristic is that two dewclaws are required on each rear foot, a traditional trait on most French sheepdogs.
Briards learn quickly but training and socialization should begin at a young age. Although Briards are used primarily as guarding and herding dogs, they are usually versatile. They have served as tracking and hunting dogs and they have a great record as war dogs. They served as sentries at military posts, where their acute hearing proved to be invaluable. Briards accompanied military troops in France, carrying food, supplies, and even munitions to the front. Numerous battle reports from the medical corps tell stories of the Briard's excellent ability to find the wounded on the battlefield.
While the Briard is a lovely fluffy, cute and cuddly looking dog, they are not for everyone.
Before you fall in love with these guys- please make sure you read The Briard as talking with reputable breeders.
But for those who love them, we would tell you they a loyal and unselfish friend who returns more than you give to them.
They are truly a Heart Wrapped in Fur!
